Salva Kiir must be fully in charge, decisive and firm, else he should quit!

July 28;

There is no doubt that the beloved President of the autonomous Southern Sudan region, Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, was and to some degree still is a very humble, selfless liberator of his besieged people.

Throughout the last round of liberation struggle, the General stayed focused and determined to free his people from the heavy yoke of oppression, racially motivated negligence of some areas and discrimination on the part of a minority, Islamist cliques who have been ruling Sudan since the time the colonial British Imperialists left.

While a certain group of opportunists within the liberation movement were busy with a secret agenda i.e. hegemonic quest for dominance of others, often positioning themselves to dominate the Southern affairs in different aspects of life, the General, despite often being bypassed and under-cut in his capacity as the SPLA chief of General Staff and deputy commander-in-Chief, remained humble and seemingly "unbothered."

However, now that the General is in a different position, occupying the Region's top post, he must work hard to do away with his usual habit of allowing all kinds of people, Political/Military animals (including the many deadly wolves and deadly adders in sheep skins) to trample on his position as well as repeatedly stepping on his toes.

Well, at a personal level, he can do whatever he likes but the constitutional position that he is currently holding obliges him to be an example of excellence in leadership, a role model on moral aspects as well as being a pro-active strategist competent in both political and military arenas.

This therefore means that the humble General must take full charge and control of the besieged region in all vital aspects entrusted upon him as the overseer of the happenings. He must fight the rampant corruption more decisively and he should begin with his own cronies and friends, some of whom have become more and more notorious in shamelessly looting the nation. This habit of destructively reaping where they did not sow must be put to an immediate end!!

Now members of his fledgling administration at different levels are busy buying luxurious mansions and bungalows in foreign countries, others simply hiding away the millions of dollars that the poor nation is desperately in need of.

The Southern masses, mindful of the fact that the war is not over yet, have set aside, through some of their reliable and far-sighted representatives (e.g. Prof. Barri Wanji), a large chunk of their overall budget, 40% in order to cater for the needs of their sons and daughters in army uniforms.

But alas! Some greedy generals, some of whom are well known for their cowardice, mass looting and butchering of innocent Southerners within the ranks and files, are sitting over the money and seem not to care about the vigilant liberators. Some of these generals' minds are pre-occupied not by the future of the South, but their own egos and dreams.

This unwarranted betrayal of the public trust must be dealt with and rooted out as soon as possible, otherwise the people will be forced in the longer term to take the law into their own hands.

Therefore Mr. Mayardit must take full control of the Southern affairs, if he want to remain a leader in the next foreseeable future.

His monotonous complaints and empty promises of action are even embittering many Southerners. His feeble stand in the face of the increasing antagonism from the NIF is something that stirs shame and anger amongst many compatriots who have sacrificed everything they once considered essential in their lives.

Wake up, Kiir Mayardit, and please don't entertain the nonsense and blackmail from some of the gluttons surrounding you, their bad reactions is inconsequential and will do nothing to unseat you, compared with that of the masses who are yawning in increased suffering, disappointment and lack of basic services.

You have the choice, and sooner rather than later, things that are currently done in blatant disregard to public feelings will not be entertained any longer!
