Ateny Wek Ateny’s arrogance won’t earn him “The Dream Accolade.”

BY: Julius Nyambur, New York, USA, JAN/9/2012, SSN;

The quest for fame is misguiding people into thinking that, perhaps doing everything in order to get anything could earn one a celebratory status. Well, being ambitious and for good reason, applying just means, is acceptable. Unfortunately, self-proclaimed activist like Mr. Ateny Wek is one of those elusively chasing fame by malicious means. His recent propaganda that a “Priest” preached HATRED during the New Year Eve sermon at St. Joseph Parish, Juba, exposed his hypocrisy.

There are egregious reasons why the public should be concerned about such an espionage mole. Here is why. Overtly Mr. Ateny has been yapping as anti-government. He has written and spoken publicly about the essence of freedom. Alas! Don’t be duped. For you could be mesmerized by a covert agent.

During one of WAKE UP JUBA’s live interview, the gent wished how he could have been one of the top Commanders had he joined the movement (SPLA). He rambled about his desire while asking guest, Lual Diing Wol. Compare that with his stance “against” the government.

Secondly and currently, Mr. Ateny projects himself as an authoritative columnist, an advocate, and/or avowed human rights defender. He strives to do this through his habitually and monotonously lengthy, and oftentimes, sloppy writings. It is immaterial here to provide statistical figures on how many folks really do or don’t read his articles in entirety.

However, experience and scholarship have it that unnecessary lengthy writings rarely command readership. His wild allegations about the “Priest” or perhaps no priest at all, but a prank to retain attention in the public eye, contradict his advocacy. Mr. Ateny will opine and rant about anything, sensible or not, as long it bears his NAME: ATENY WEK ATENY, a member of blah blah….

Alarmingly, that title leaves a lot to be pondered about, given that the “champion” of freedom and liberation is also a member of the South Sudan Constitutional Review Commission. Constitutional making are the reserves of legal technocrats. By the virtue of being a Member, Ateny is assumed to be sharp, competent, articulate, and cognizant of what is constituted in the legal document. I beg to differ.

Whereas Mr. Ateny’s right and freedom of expression is warranted and respected, his recent attack on a Catholic Priest of St. Joseph Parish in Juba sounded far-fetched and blackmailing. It is far-fetched because it lacked context about the alleged HATRED; blackmailing because it did not establish the identity or brief description of the priest. It could have been a total make up to impress his “funders”!

Moreover, the claim is overly prejudicial, instigating, and fraught with reckless threats, accusing the “Catholic Priest” of being “a Kokra-man,” (Kokora), and that the “St. Joseph Priest shall soon join his Catholic counterpart who preached the killing of thousands of Tutsis and moderate Hutus in the Rwandan Genocide in 1994.”

It is mind-boggling to grasp the author’s position. Which begs the question: Was he speaking on his official capacity as a “member of the Constitutional Review Commission,” or has the temperamental “columnist” been secretly assigned to initiate and report “malicious charges” without due verification?

There is a dividing or rather defining line between espionage and being a “columnist” or an “advocate” for that matter. Espionage is the act of an oppressive system in the pretext of national security. I am tempted to think that this is not what Mr. Ateny would or could drift into doing. Unfortunately his writing about the “Priest of Hatred” did not reflect his ubiquitous pride of being an “advocate” of “peace and prosperity” as he claims.

Instead his attitude portrayed him as a hypocrite, contrary to his recent posture as champion of freedom during late Isaiah Abraham’s requiem. I say hypocrite because the priest, like any South Sudanese citizen, is entitled to express his frustrations and what is widely viewed as betrayed vision.

Ignorant or not, cognizant of “what is meant of a city and what is the nation all about” or not, the concocted “Priest’s” utterances do not constitute criminal elements, whether viewed from the lenses of a layman or counsel’s. If anything, his critique is socially and politically correct.

What is this crazy influx of all people pouring into, and lingering around, Equatoria as if this was the sole Goal of the Movement?

Point of fact is, anyone against chastising the notion of moving to towns must be guilty of abatement-aiding creates vacuum in those other states, hence insecurity.

Moving to towns is the truest manifest of LAZINESS! It is the unconventional lame excuse of lazy PEOPLE, who un-systematically march to towns in the name of “looking for opportunities.” You are 40 years, uneducated, obsessed with wearing suits on daily basis, and insist you are “looking for opportunities?” Really?!

The fallacy of the preceding argument is self-inconsistent at best. If it were valid as Mr. Ateny wants the defamed Priest believe, the same should be seen or heard applying to all the ten State capitals of the South Sudan ten States. Certainly, it is not the case.

Matter of fact, it is as illogical as Mr. Ateny’s illogical assertion runs below: “If this government is to relocate to Mogadishu, the people of South Sudan would have all gone to live in Mogadishu. As, the Catholic Church’s eyes are on Rome and Pope, South Sudanese’ eyes are on Juba and whoever that govern South Sudan.”

It is the conglomerate failures of recognizing and respecting others’ perspectives (the Priest included), their freedom of expression, coupled with posting and publishing dumbfounded gibberish as the author referenced above that leaves one with no option but to chip in and fill the “gap.”

After all, how does one who claims to be an advocate for freedom justify his portrayal of others’ freedom of association and expression as instigation?

Mr. Ateny Wek Ateny is not what he claims to be. His tone of writing is shrewdly arrogant, indicative of an agenda sparingly different from that he hoodwinks the public to believe. He is basically doing everything to get anything. In five words, he is ambitiously chasing fame.

No, the author of this article is not Wani. He is just another Dinka, defender of the corrupt Government Of Salva. He is more upset with how Ateny Wek condemns the mismanagement the government. He disguises himself but we can tell right away who he is. He is very close to Aleu Ayeny and Lual DIing Wol, the most stupid generals in the governmnet.

Legge, My email is attached. You are free to verify my identity. That I know the two VIPs above is not deniable. I critiqued any wrong doing including by my family and myself. This is what honest criticism emphasizes. I have chosen to expose hypocrisy. I did it in the cattle camp, in the farm, under trees, in the trenches, and with written words.

Hi Julius Nyambur, Leave this confused writer alone. Do you KNOW if he could be a true advocate we should have already read his articles about:
-Advocating for publishing the names of top 75 Government officers behind the missing of 4 billions USD.
-The Massacre of Wau town citizens for refusing the relocation of the County to Bagari.
-The slow pace of the tricked Interim Constitutional review as time tends towards 2015.
    -etc

I wonder why some South Sudanese fear KOKORA! yet it means each one for himself but God for us all.
Let me assure him (ATENY WEK ATENY) IF:
-Corruptions, misrule, domination, Masssacre of civilians, Land Grabbing, Insecurity continues indefinably, then Kokora sympathizer will attract followers, aren’t those some of the reasons KOKORA was declared?

  3. Gubedda says:

Don”t oversimplify things because of prejudice. If the man is a member of the constitutional review commission, he should shut up and stop jeopardizing the work of the commission. How dare he go public on a constitutional issue of freedom of speech which is being considered by the commission? Sheer incompetence. In fact the chair of the commission should warn him.

  4. Awumtiaidit says:

That’s good one, Nyambur. Ateny is a hopeless dude who pretends to be criticizing the government while he is a sheer double standard. I wish I was in during Isaiah’s service he shouldn’t have been given a chance to utter a word. He is happy that Isaiah Abraham is dead. Those tears he shed on the day are nothing but crocodile tears. He used to claim things that he isn’t part of and Isaiah would always come out and tell him to back off. The other maniac is the so-called John Akec of Juba’s university. He’s mad for fame as well.
Hey, did I hear Ateny saying he would have been a commander had he joined the SPLA? Haha, he needs to be told that being a commander in those days was not a handout thing. True commanders like those of Majok Mac Aluong, Anyar Apiu and many more didn’t live to see what they laid their lives for!!!

    • Julius says:

Awumtiaidit, Indeed! Ateny said that. Listen to it on New Sudan Vision. The interview was conducted by Mading Ngor. If I made this up, let Ateny come out and refute it.

  5. deng says:

‘Father forgive them since they don’t know what they are doing,’ Jesus of Nazareth said. These Bar el ghazel don’t really know what they are doing. If you point out the mistake that they have done, they will cry like hungry dog NGAAAAAAaaa. This guy is one of them. Many of these people don’t really know what they are talking about.
What is he really talking about… about freedom of speech? what kind of freedom of speech? is there any freedom of speech in South Sudan under their leadership? All we know is that they are busy stealing public money, failing people is the talk, non-development, and no rule of law. God, what are they talking about?

  6. Anna Tabaan says:

This so called member of the commission should be dismissed immediately. Issues of constitutional process are guarded and not shared before the commission comes forth and declares its resolutions. Please do not criticize for the sake of criticism. That a so-called “learned fellow” like yourself can write such a disgusting article of little substance begs the question of whether you are truly a scholar. Your penmanship should produce something sensible that builds this nation. A spade is a spade and not a big spoon. I would rather read more of Ateny Wek’s work than see your inconsequential article. Sheer incompetence!

    • Julius says:

Anna Taban, This indicates how sympathetic you are to the cohorts. This article isn’t scholastic by any account. You should be able to decipher the difference. Yet building this nation begins with owning up and admitting our past and current injustices. Your choice of subscribing to hypocrites is in place. As for me, I will not cease exposing that hypocrisy.

      • Anna Tabaan says:

        Julius,
You misunderstand me, my brother. I am not sympathetic to anything that will pull this nation down, neither to I tolerate hypocrisy. I read all articles posted by various South Sudanese. My comment was merely a comparison between the two writings, which one would you have preferred? Both are equally non-essential, but one is more sensible than the other. And true indeed, none of the articles are scholastic at all.

  7. Dinka land says:

Deng, if it was not Bhar el Ghazal South Sudan would have not become a nation by God. When Riak went with all Nuer soldiers who remained in SPLA while you were all in refugees camp in Kenya where you renamed Kenyans areas.

    • Dan says:

Yyou said if it was not Bhar elgazal, South Sudan would have not been independent because Riek left with all the Nuer soldiers and Dinka Bor were all in refugee camps in Kenya. Those who knew the events on the ground then will tell you there were no Sudanese refugees in Kenya before 1992 while Riek and his colleagues defected in 1991. Get your facts right before you lie to yourself.

  8. Countdown2015 says:

    Julius Nyambur,
It’s truly a fact that you’re a tribal accomplice who disguises himself on a priest’s accolade full of hatred and intrigue to people inhabiting Equatorial region. Your writings above is saluted with praise by your tribal fellows. For God sake, Mr. Nyambur, if the betrayal you’re trying to sow will one day lead all of you into collaboration, as your minds are all deemed shallow, weak and full of give-in.. I know Ateny Wek will not waste his time responding to this bogus article since it bears no substance. You’re looking for FAME not ATENY, please.
Shame has now befallen on you with your Catholic priest who tries to sow his inner contempt to the public. What the hell was the man of God trying to preach? Satanic move and that was all. LET THE REALITIES BE TOLD, FORGET OF YOUR DIVISION and it will not happen as per your thinking, you’re wasting your time and knowledge, put it into development for this country…. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  9. michael coma says:

    Julius Nyambur,
Ateny Wek is a government columnist, that have been hired by the government to confuse the South Sudanese minds. Be careful and see his’s articles, you will be surprised and you will be believing what i have said. Ateny is the most corrector of all the articles that are against the government but he has been told not to show that he is favouring the government.

  10. Kuot says:

Dinka Land, such kind of response will definitely show that Bar el Gazal is misruling the country and mismanaging natural resource to compensate just a few for the war they fought. That is hopeless indeed.
For your information, Bar el Gazal have fought but never did they fight in place of Dinka Bor. That is misleading and those of us who were fighting side by side with you will reject such kind of a lie. It is true there were about 45,000 refugees of Dinka Bor in Kenya plus 20,000 refugees from Bar el Gazal. Entire population of Dinka Bor is approximately 260,000.
That means participation of Dinka Bor was not affected by the number of refugees who were in Kenya. Remember, Bar el Gazal had 3.2 million refugees in Khartoum and other Northern towns. this is more than the number of soldiers you contributed to SPLA/M. Before you you lie it is very important to ask people who were fighting during the time of war.

  11. Dinka land says:

@Kuot, I didn’t understand your point obviously. You better desist commenting.
