All South Sudanese citizens should get paid monthly

BY: Yohannes Kong Tut, SOUTH SUDAN

JAN. 30/2012, SSN; It has been already 7 months since South Sudan was declared an independent state. And since then, more have been probably going on in terms of economic building which is being started from scratch. It is true that South Sudan produces 1,000,000 barrels of oil a day. Most of oil money is being looted daily by officials in Juba and the rest of states.

There are no plans put forward as to tackle the problem of poverty which every one is facing rapidly but with exception of few workers and elite who are very corrupt and operating for their own profits only.

This has drawn all notable weakness in the way the system is running the country and on the basis of equal distribution of oil wealth among citizens. It is also true that what should have been done in the first place since day one of independence has been already dumped.

What should have been done in the first place is to put all who are staying inside South Sudan on monthly payroll for up to 15 years so that poverty is prevented from further affecting the citizens of South Sudan.

South Sudan's oil belongs to all South Sudanese and all of them should be entitled to ownership and equal distribution instead of only paying a few and corrupt individuals who assume that all resources belong to them.

How much money did each citizen get since the day independence was declared? Every one in South Sudan has a right of entitlement to equal sharing of all resources which are produced in South Sudan.

Those who are in service like the army, police, teachers, doctors and other civil servants are getting paid because they have taken oaths of commitment to serve the citizens of South Sudan.

Likewise all citizens too are supposed to be paid by South Sudan Government. There are many ways GoSS can make this work in consultation with specialized agencies which are nongovernmental in nature.

These specialized agencies can carry out the distribution of resources equally without discriminating any one for their age, gender, and other vulnerabilities. GoSS should put the right people in places so that right plans are carried out for every one's success in South Sudan.

I don't think that it is a wise idea to keeping asking UNHCR for food when there is a great chance that all resources can be equally distributed to all citizens in South Sudan. It should be remembered and kept in mind that it is a people's oil and not cabinet's.

And that it should be totally distributed to all through each household family in South Sudan for not less than 15 years or the else the country may be plunked into all major troubles and chaos ahead.

Major failure has been demonstrated in how resources are being distributed and a change is needed to take place immediately in order that the right order of equal distribution of things is put to work with immediate effect. There can be no any vital country which exploits it citizens through rampant corruption, lack of transparency, and accountability in the manner in which things are distributed.

It is absolutely brutal for those being exploited as it should be fascinating for looters on the other hand but it would be wise to create balance through equal distribution of things before we are made to go wild in either way.

Goss should also embark on educating all through specialized agencies to cultivate land, extract Nile resources, and to explore areas of retailing, trading and any other economically enhancing areas of development.

All and all but not least and less, South Sudan's oil belongs to all South Sudanese and it should be distributed to all through each household in South Sudan. I think that we all know what Dr. John did when he sent some students for studies abroad in 1980s.

Part of what Dr. John was doing, was purposely meant for making those students learn how economy and distribution of wealth is carried out in those countries and so that they could bring it back to South Sudan.

There is no need to mention any country here as it should not be case but those countries where Dr. John sent those students, are actually sharing and distributing all resources equally.

I wonder if some of those students are actively working in South Sudan now. And if they are, could they not urge the system to learn the distribution of things equally or are they being immersed deep into the rampant corruption that's on the rise?

I would suggest that each person be given $ 2000 USD as their July 9 compliment while registrations and assessments are being organized countrywide.

It should also be noted that use of local currency is the best as it can strengthen the economy within. Neighboring citizens of other countries are not needed to make South Sudan a haven for dollar exchange as it impact is so deadly on the economy.

It is estimated that more than 2 billion was stolen in exchange rate since 2005 and it is on-going until now.

Finally, South Sudan resources are for all South Sudanese, they should be distributed equally to all with no discrimination on the basis of age, gender or other vulnerabilities.

All are to be placed on monthly payroll for not less than 15 years to avoid being plunked into major chaos and troubles ahead. Finally securing better economic paths through initiatives like trading, retailing, cultivation of land and all other areas is very encouraged.
